Description

Baked Crunchy Hot Honey Chicken is a crispy, oven-baked dish with a sweet and spicy glaze, perfect for a flavorful and healthier alternative to fried chicken.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups cornflakes, crushed
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 12 tbsp hot sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • Cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Lightly spray with cooking spray.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together buttermilk, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Add chicken and marinate for at least 30 minutes, or overnight for best results.
  3. In another bowl, combine crushed cornflakes, breadcrumbs, and olive oil.
  4. Remove chicken from marinade and coat thoroughly in the cornflake mixture.
  5. Place coated chicken on the prepared baking sheet. Lightly spray the tops with cooking spray.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes, turning once halfway through, until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, combine honey, hot sauce, and apple cider vinegar. Heat over low heat until warmed and well mixed.
  8. Drizzle the hot honey sauce over the baked chicken before serving.

Notes

  • Adjust the level of hot sauce to suit your spice preference.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure chicken reaches 165°F internally.
  • For extra crunch, double coat the chicken in the cornflake mixture.
  • Can be served with coleslaw or over a salad for a lighter meal.
