Ingredients
- 3 cups cooked chicken, shredded or diced
- 1 (10.5 oz) can cream of chicken soup
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup milk or chicken broth
- 1 (6 oz) box stuffing mix (like Stove Top)
- 1 1/2 cups hot water or as directed on stuffing package
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 tbsp butter (for greasing or dotting on top)
- Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter.
- In a medium bowl, combine stuffing mix with hot water as directed on the package. Let sit while preparing other ingredients.
- In another large bowl, mix cream of chicken soup, sour cream, milk (or broth), garlic powder, salt, and pepper until smooth.
- Stir in cooked chicken and optional cheese if using. Mix until well combined.
- Spread chicken mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
- Spoon prepared stuffing over the top, spreading gently without pressing down.
- Dot top with a few small pieces of butter if desired for added richness.
- Bake uncovered for 30–35 minutes, or until hot and bubbly and top is golden brown.
- Garnish with chopped parsley and serve warm.
