Description
Carne Asada Tacos are flavorful Mexican street-style tacos made with marinated and grilled beef, served in warm corn tortillas and topped with fresh garnishes.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs flank or skirt steak
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 1/4 cup lime juice
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 jalapeño, chopped
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp chili powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 8-10 small corn tortillas
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 cup chopped cilantro
- 1 lime, cut into wedges
- Optional toppings: salsa, avocado, radishes
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine orange juice, lime juice, soy sauce, olive oil, garlic, jalapeño, chopped cilantro, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper to make the marinade.
- Place the steak in a resealable bag or shallow dish and pour the marinade over it. Marinate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight in the refrigerator.
- Preheat grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
- Remove the steak from the marinade and grill for about 4-6 minutes per side until cooked to desired doneness.
- Let the steak rest for 5 minutes before slicing thinly against the grain.
- Warm the corn tortillas on the grill or in a skillet until pliable.
- Assemble the tacos by adding sliced steak to each tortilla and topping with chopped onion, cilantro, and optional toppings.
- Serve with lime wedges on the side.
Notes
- For extra flavor, grill the tortillas for a slightly charred taste.
- Flank or skirt steak works best due to its texture and flavor when marinated and grilled.
- Leftover carne asada can be used in burritos, salads, or quesadillas.
