Description

Carne Asada Tacos are flavorful Mexican street-style tacos made with marinated and grilled beef, served in warm corn tortillas and topped with fresh garnishes.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs flank or skirt steak
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup lime juice
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 jalapeño, chopped
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 8-10 small corn tortillas
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1 lime, cut into wedges
  • Optional toppings: salsa, avocado, radishes

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine orange juice, lime juice, soy sauce, olive oil, garlic, jalapeño, chopped cilantro, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper to make the marinade.
  2. Place the steak in a resealable bag or shallow dish and pour the marinade over it. Marinate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight in the refrigerator.
  3. Preheat grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Remove the steak from the marinade and grill for about 4-6 minutes per side until cooked to desired doneness.
  5. Let the steak rest for 5 minutes before slicing thinly against the grain.
  6. Warm the corn tortillas on the grill or in a skillet until pliable.
  7. Assemble the tacos by adding sliced steak to each tortilla and topping with chopped onion, cilantro, and optional toppings.
  8. Serve with lime wedges on the side.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, grill the tortillas for a slightly charred taste.
  • Flank or skirt steak works best due to its texture and flavor when marinated and grilled.
  • Leftover carne asada can be used in burritos, salads, or quesadillas.
