- 8 oz (225g) pasta of your choice
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/2 cup reserved pasta water
Instructions
- Cook the pasta according to package instructions. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water before draining.
- During the last 2-3 minutes of cooking the pasta, add the broccoli florets to the boiling water with the pasta to cook until tender.
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a simmer.
- Stir in the cheddar cheese and Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.
- Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.
- Add the drained pasta and broccoli to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce. Add reserved pasta water as needed to reach desired consistency.
- Cook for another 1-2 minutes until everything is heated through and well combined.
- Serve hot, optionally garnished with extra Parmesan or red pepper flakes.
Notes
- Use whole wheat or gluten-free pasta for a healthier option.
- You can substitute broccoli with cauliflower or peas.
- Add grilled chicken or mushrooms for extra protein.
