Ingredients
Scale
Seafood and Meat
- 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 sausage links (spicy, sliced)
Pasta
- 8 oz fettuccine pasta
Seasonings and Flavorings
- 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Dairy and Liquids
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Cook the pasta: Cook the fettuccine pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain the pasta well and set it aside.
- Brown the sausage: In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced spicy sausage and cook until browned and slightly crispy. Remove the sausage from the skillet and set it aside.
- Sauté the garlic and shrimp: Using the same skillet, add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 30 seconds to 1 minute. Sprinkle in the Cajun seasoning, then add the shrimp. Cook the shrimp until they turn pink and are opaque, approximately 3-4 minutes.
- Create the sauce: Pour in the chicken broth and bring it to a simmer. Stir in the heavy cream and grated Parmesan cheese. Let the sauce simmer gently for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens to a creamy consistency.
- Combine pasta and proteins: Toss the cooked fettuccine into the skillet with the sauce, mixing thoroughly to coat the pasta evenly. Return the browned sausage and cooked shrimp to the skillet and stir to combine all the ingredients well.
- Garnish and serve: Garnish the creamy Cajun pasta with fresh chopped parsley and serve immediately while hot for the best flavor and texture.
Notes
- You can substitute spicy sausage with Andouille sausage for a more authentic Cajun flavor.
- Adjust the amount of Cajun seasoning to your spice preference.
- For a lighter version, use half-and-half or milk instead of heavy cream.
- Ensure not to overcook the shrimp to keep them tender and juicy.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 2 days and reheated gently on the stovetop.
