- 2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 4 oz dark chocolate (70% cocoa or higher), chopped
- 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, heat the milk and heavy cream over medium heat until warm but not boiling.
- Add the chopped dark chocolate, cocoa powder, sugar, and salt. Whisk continuously until the chocolate is fully melted and the mixture is smooth.
- Lower the heat and simmer for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Pour into mugs and serve hot. Optionally top with whipped cream or marshmallows.

- Adjust the sugar depending on the sweetness of the chocolate used.
