Description

Doritos Taco Casserole is a crowd-pleasing layered dish featuring seasoned ground beef, beans, cheese, and crushed Doritos chips, baked to melty perfection for a Tex-Mex inspired comfort meal.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 packet taco seasoning mix
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 (15 oz) can black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 cup salsa
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 cups crushed Doritos (nacho cheese flavor)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream (optional)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • Chopped tomatoes and shredded lettuce (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and onion until beef is browned and onion is tender. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add taco seasoning and water to the skillet. Stir to combine and simmer for 2–3 minutes.
  4. Stir in black beans and salsa. Cook for another 2–3 minutes until heated through.
  5. In a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, layer half of the crushed Doritos, then top with the beef mixture and sprinkle with half of the cheese.
  6. Repeat the layers with the remaining Doritos and cheese.
  7. Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Let cool for 5 minutes, then top with sour cream, green onions, and any additional toppings as desired.

Notes

  • Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
  • Add corn or jalapeños for extra flavor and texture.
  • Best served fresh—Doritos will soften if stored too long.
