Description
Doritos Taco Casserole is a crowd-pleasing layered dish featuring seasoned ground beef, beans, cheese, and crushed Doritos chips, baked to melty perfection for a Tex-Mex inspired comfort meal.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 packet taco seasoning mix
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 (15 oz) can black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 cup salsa
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 4 cups crushed Doritos (nacho cheese flavor)
- 1/2 cup sour cream (optional)
- 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
- Chopped tomatoes and shredded lettuce (optional, for serving)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and onion until beef is browned and onion is tender. Drain excess fat.
- Add taco seasoning and water to the skillet. Stir to combine and simmer for 2–3 minutes.
- Stir in black beans and salsa. Cook for another 2–3 minutes until heated through.
- In a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, layer half of the crushed Doritos, then top with the beef mixture and sprinkle with half of the cheese.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining Doritos and cheese.
- Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let cool for 5 minutes, then top with sour cream, green onions, and any additional toppings as desired.
Notes
- Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
- Add corn or jalapeños for extra flavor and texture.
- Best served fresh—Doritos will soften if stored too long.
