Description

Easy Air Fryer Churros are a lighter version of the classic fried treat, made with a simple choux pastry and cooked in the air fryer until golden, then rolled in cinnamon sugar for a crispy, sweet finish.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Cooking spray
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine water, sugar, salt, and butter. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in flour until a dough forms. Let cool for 5 minutes.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract until smooth and glossy.
  4. Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip.
  5. Line air fryer basket with parchment paper. Pipe 4–5 inch churro strips onto the paper.
  6. Lightly spray churros with cooking spray.
  7. Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 10–12 minutes or until golden and puffed.
  8. Immediately roll warm churros in a mixture of sugar and cinnamon.
  9. Serve with chocolate sauce or dulce de leche, if desired.

Notes

  • Don’t overcrowd the air fryer—cook in batches for even browning.
  • Let the dough cool slightly before adding eggs to avoid scrambling.
  • Piping the dough directly onto parchment helps maintain shape.
