Scale
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Cooking spray
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine water, sugar, salt, and butter. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Remove from heat and stir in flour until a dough forms. Let cool for 5 minutes.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract until smooth and glossy.
- Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip.
- Line air fryer basket with parchment paper. Pipe 4–5 inch churro strips onto the paper.
- Lightly spray churros with cooking spray.
- Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 10–12 minutes or until golden and puffed.
- Immediately roll warm churros in a mixture of sugar and cinnamon.
- Serve with chocolate sauce or dulce de leche, if desired.
Notes
- Don’t overcrowd the air fryer—cook in batches for even browning.
- Let the dough cool slightly before adding eggs to avoid scrambling.
- Piping the dough directly onto parchment helps maintain shape.
