Description

These Easy French Dip Sandwiches are made with tender roast beef, melty provolone cheese, and crusty hoagie rolls, served with a rich au jus dipping sauce. Perfect for a quick and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound deli roast beef, thinly sliced
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • 8 slices provolone cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced (optional)
  • 1 packet au jus seasoning mix
  • 3 cups water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a saucepan, combine the au jus seasoning mix with water and bring to a simmer. Stir until well mixed and heated through.
  3. In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add onions if using, and sauté until caramelized.
  4. Add the roast beef to the au jus in the saucepan and heat until warmed through.
  5. Split the hoagie rolls and place on a baking sheet. Fill each roll with warm roast beef and top with 2 slices of provolone cheese.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the rolls are slightly crispy.
  7. Serve immediately with a small bowl of au jus for dipping.

Notes

  • You can use Swiss or mozzarella cheese as an alternative to provolone.
  • Toast the hoagie rolls for extra crunch before adding the fillings.
  • Make it spicy with banana peppers or a dash of horseradish sauce.
