Description
These Easy French Dip Sandwiches are made with tender roast beef, melty provolone cheese, and crusty hoagie rolls, served with a rich au jus dipping sauce. Perfect for a quick and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 1 pound deli roast beef, thinly sliced
- 4 hoagie rolls
- 8 slices provolone cheese
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced (optional)
- 1 packet au jus seasoning mix
- 3 cups water
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a saucepan, combine the au jus seasoning mix with water and bring to a simmer. Stir until well mixed and heated through.
- In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add onions if using, and sauté until caramelized.
- Add the roast beef to the au jus in the saucepan and heat until warmed through.
- Split the hoagie rolls and place on a baking sheet. Fill each roll with warm roast beef and top with 2 slices of provolone cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the rolls are slightly crispy.
- Serve immediately with a small bowl of au jus for dipping.
Notes
- You can use Swiss or mozzarella cheese as an alternative to provolone.
- Toast the hoagie rolls for extra crunch before adding the fillings.
- Make it spicy with banana peppers or a dash of horseradish sauce.
