- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 2 1/4 cups packed brown sugar
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper and lightly grease it.
- In a large microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter.
- Add brown sugar, corn syrup, sweetened condensed milk, and salt. Stir to combine.
- Microwave the mixture on high for 6-7 minutes, stirring every 2 minutes. Use caution as the mixture will be very hot.
- Check for doneness by dropping a small spoonful into cold water — it should form a soft ball.
- Stir in vanilla extract.
- Pour the caramel into the prepared dish and let cool completely at room temperature.
- Cut into squares and wrap in wax paper if desired.
