A classic comfort food dish made with seasoned ground beef patties simmered in a rich mushroom and onion gravy, perfect for a hearty meal.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup chopped onion
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms
- 1/2 cup sliced onions
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tbsp ketchup
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, chopped onion, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
- Form into 4 oval patties.
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Brown patties on both sides. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add mushrooms and onions. Cook until softened.
- Sprinkle flour over the mixture, stir, and cook for 1 minute.
- Add beef broth and ketchup, stirring to combine.
- Return patties to the skillet, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes until cooked through and gravy thickens.
- Serve hot with gravy spooned over the steaks.
Notes
- Use ground turkey for a leaner option.
- Serve with mashed potatoes or egg noodles for a complete meal.
- Can be made ahead and reheated for a quick dinner.
