Description
A delicious twist on the classic Caprese salad, this Grilled Caprese Sandwich features fresh mozzarella, juicy tomatoes, and fragrant basil grilled to perfection between slices of crusty bread.

- 4 slices of sourdough or ciabatta bread
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 8 oz fresh mozzarella, sliced
- 2 medium tomatoes, sliced
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
- 2 tablespoons balsamic glaze
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat a grill pan or skillet over medium heat.
- Brush one side of each bread slice with olive oil.
- Place mozzarella, tomato slices, and basil leaves on the un-oiled side of two bread slices. Drizzle with balsamic glaze and season with salt and pepper.
- Top with remaining bread slices, oiled side out.
- Grill sandwiches for 3–4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden and cheese is melted.
- Remove from heat, slice, and serve warm.
Notes
- Use heirloom tomatoes for added flavor and color.
- Add a spread of pesto for extra herb flavor.
- For a crispier texture, use a panini press if available.
