Simple and reliable method for making perfect hard boiled eggs with easy-to-peel shells and fully set yolks.
Ingredients
- 6 large eggs
- Water (enough to cover eggs by 1 inch)
- Ice (for ice bath)
Instructions
- Place the eggs in a single layer in a saucepan or pot.
- Fill the pot with cold water until the eggs are covered by about an inch.
- Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Once boiling, turn off the heat and cover the pot with a lid.
- Let the eggs sit in the hot water for 10-12 minutes, depending on desired doneness.
- Transfer the eggs to an ice bath and let them sit for at least 5 minutes to cool completely.
- Peel and serve or store in the refrigerator.
Notes
- Use older eggs for easier peeling.
- Peel under running water to help remove shells easily.
- Store unpeeled boiled eggs in the fridge for up to a week.
