Description
A whimsical and fun Barbie cake perfect for birthdays and celebrations, made with layered cake, buttercream, and a doll centerpiece.
Ingredients
- 2 boxes of cake mix (any flavor)
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 4 cups buttercream frosting (store-bought or homemade)
- Food coloring (optional)
- 1 Barbie doll (or similar doll with removable legs)
- Fondant or additional frosting for decoration
- Sprinkles and edible glitter (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two 8-inch round cake pans and one oven-safe bowl (for the skirt shape).
- Mix the cake batter according to the package instructions using the eggs, water, and oil.
- Divide the batter among the pans and bowl, filling them no more than 2/3 full. Bake for 25–35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool completely before leveling the tops with a serrated knife.
- Stack the cakes with a layer of buttercream frosting between each, forming a dome shape with the bowl cake on top.
- Insert the Barbie doll in the center after wrapping her legs in plastic wrap or removing them if necessary.
- Frost the entire cake with a thin crumb coat, chill for 30 minutes, then apply a final layer of buttercream or decorate with fondant as desired.
- Use piping tips to add dress details, and finish with sprinkles, edible glitter, or other decorations.
- Chill until ready to serve. Slice and enjoy!
Notes
- You can use homemade cake instead of boxed mix.
- Ensure the cake is cool before inserting the doll to prevent melting.
- Adjust colors and decorations based on the party theme.
