Description
Jalapeño Poppers are spicy, cheesy appetizers made by stuffing jalapeño peppers with a creamy cheese filling and baking or frying them until golden and bubbly.

- 12 fresh jalapeño peppers
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 12 slices of bacon (optional)
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (optional, for baked version)
- 1 tbsp olive oil (if baking with breadcrumbs)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) or heat oil for frying if using that method.
- Cut jalapeños in half lengthwise and remove seeds and membranes.
- In a bowl, mix cream cheese, cheddar cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Stuff each jalapeño half with the cheese mixture.
- Optional: Wrap each filled jalapeño with a slice of bacon or sprinkle with breadcrumbs mixed with olive oil.
- Place poppers on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes until cheese is bubbly and tops are golden. For frying, cook in hot oil for 2-3 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Use gloves when handling jalapeños to avoid skin irritation.
- For less heat, soak jalapeños in cold water for 30 minutes after removing seeds.
- Can be made ahead and stored in the fridge before baking.
