Description

Mexican Brownies are rich, fudgy chocolate brownies infused with warm spices like cinnamon and a hint of cayenne pepper for a bold and flavorful twist.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in sugar, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
  3. Whisk in cocoa powder, flour, salt, baking powder, cinnamon, and cayenne pepper until just combined.
  4. Fold in chocolate chips, if using.
  5. Pour batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  6. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs.
  7. Cool in the pan before slicing into squares.
