Description

Pumpkin Praline Bread Pudding is a rich and cozy dessert made with spiced pumpkin custard soaked into bread cubes, topped with a crunchy praline pecan topping and baked until golden.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 6 cups day-old bread cubes (French or brioche)
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup canned pumpkin puree
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (for topping)
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • Caramel sauce or whipped cream, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Spread bread cubes evenly in the prepared dish.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together milk, cream, pumpkin puree, eggs, 1 cup brown sugar, pumpkin pie spice, vanilla, and salt.
  4. Pour the pumpkin custard mixture evenly over the bread cubes. Press down lightly to help the bread absorb the liquid. Let sit for 15–20 minutes.
  5. In a small bowl, mix chopped pecans, 1/4 cup brown sugar, and melted butter. Sprinkle over the top of the pudding.
  6. Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is golden and crisp.
  7. Cool slightly before serving. Drizzle with caramel sauce or top with whipped cream if desired.

Notes

  • Best made with stale or day-old bread to absorb the custard well.
  • Can be prepared ahead and baked just before serving.
  • Try adding raisins or dried cranberries for added texture and flavor.
