Description

Sweet Chili Chicken is a quick and flavorful dish featuring crispy chicken coated in a sticky, sweet, and mildly spicy chili sauce — perfect for a weeknight dinner or party appetizer.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
  • 1 green onion, chopped (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, toss chicken pieces with cornstarch, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook until golden and cooked through, about 6–8 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add garlic and ginger, and sauté for 30 seconds.
  4. Add sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and honey. Stir and bring to a simmer.
  5. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet and toss to coat evenly in the sauce. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until heated through and slightly thickened.
  6. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot over rice or noodles.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, double fry the chicken pieces.
  • You can substitute sweet chili sauce with a mix of sriracha and honey if unavailable.
  • Add bell peppers or snap peas for a veggie-packed version.
