- 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
- 1 egg
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup dried bread crumbs
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons prepared mustard
- 1/3 cup ketchup
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, egg, onion, milk, and bread crumbs. Season with salt and pepper, and mix well.
- Place the mixture into a lightly greased 5×9 inch loaf pan, or form into a loaf and place in a lightly greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In a separate small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, mustard, and ketchup. Spoon this mixture over the meatloaf.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
- Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add garlic or Worcestershire sauce to the meat mixture.
- Leftovers make great sandwiches the next day.
- You can use a mix of ground beef and pork for more depth of flavor.
