Description

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp oregano
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 small flour or corn tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 lime, cut into wedges

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  2. Add garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  3. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  4. Drain excess fat, then stir in chili powder, cumin, paprika, oregano, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and pepper. Cook for 2-3 more minutes.
  5. Warm tortillas in a skillet or microwave until soft.
  6. Assemble tacos by adding beef mixture to tortillas, then topping with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, sour cream, and cilantro.
  7. Serve with lime wedges on the side.

Notes

  • For a healthier version, use ground turkey or chicken instead of beef.
