- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp oregano
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 8 small flour or corn tortillas
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1 cup diced tomatoes
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- 1 lime, cut into wedges
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
- Drain excess fat, then stir in chili powder, cumin, paprika, oregano, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and pepper. Cook for 2-3 more minutes.
- Warm tortillas in a skillet or microwave until soft.
- Assemble tacos by adding beef mixture to tortillas, then topping with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, sour cream, and cilantro.
- Serve with lime wedges on the side.
Notes
- For a healthier version, use ground turkey or chicken instead of beef.
- Customize toppings with avocado, salsa, or jalapeños.
- Tacos are best served immediately to keep tortillas from getting soggy.
