A healthy and flavorful twist on the classic comfort food, this turkey meatloaf is moist, delicious, and easy to make.
Ingredients
- 1 1/4 lbs ground turkey
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup ketchup (plus more for topping)
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a loaf pan or line with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine breadcrumbs and milk. Let sit for a few minutes to absorb.
- Add ground turkey, egg, onion, garlic, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper to the bowl. Mix until just combined—do not overmix.
- Transfer the mixture to the prepared loaf pan and shape into a loaf.
- Spread a thin layer of ketchup over the top of the loaf.
- Bake for 55-60 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Use lean ground turkey for a healthier option, but avoid extra lean to prevent dryness.
- Add finely chopped vegetables like bell pepper or carrot for extra flavor and moisture.
- Leftovers make excellent sandwiches or can be frozen for later.
