Description

Turtle Cake is a decadent dessert made with rich chocolate cake, gooey caramel, crunchy pecans, and a layer of chocolate chips. It’s the perfect indulgence for chocolate and caramel lovers alike.


Ingredients

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix (plus ingredients to prepare)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 (14 oz) bag caramels, unwrapped
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. Prepare cake mix according to package instructions.
  3. Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared pan and bake for 15 minutes.
  4. While the first layer bakes, melt caramels with butter and evaporated milk in a saucepan over low heat, stirring until smooth.
  5. Remove cake from oven and pour the caramel mixture evenly over the baked layer.
  6. Sprinkle chocolate chips and chopped pecans over the caramel.
  7. Carefully spread the remaining cake batter over the top.
  8. Bake for an additional 20–25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Cool slightly before serving. Serve warm or at room temperature.
